Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain were established on 20 May 1995.
Since 7 February 2025, Mr. Akram Karimi has served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Bahrain, with residence in Riyadh. Mr. Muhammed Ibrahim Abdul Qadir has held the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Tajikistan, with residence in Islamabad, since 20 November 2019.
On 27 May 2014, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. During the visit, a productive meeting was held between President Rahmon and the King of Bahrain, His Majesty Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, focusing on the expansion of political, economic, trade, investment, and cultural cooperation.The President of the Republic of Tajikistan was awarded the highest state honor of Bahrain, the “Al-Qilad al-Khalifa” (Royal Order), while the King of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, was awarded the Order of Ismoili Somoni, First Class.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Mr. Ghanim Fazl al-Baynain, participated in the Eleventh Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, held on March 29, 2013, in Dushanbe, where he met with the President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan. Furthermore, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmad Al Khalifa, attended the Fifth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, held on June 14–15, 2019, in Dushanbe.
To date, eight bilateral agreements have been concluded between the two countries across various fields. Notably, the Joint Declaration of Tajikistan and Bahrain delineates the principal directions and mechanisms for the further development of bilateral relations and cooperation.
During the official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to Bahrain, a business forum was organized, bringing together more than 200 entrepreneurs and representatives from the business communities of both countries.
From October 31 to November 2, 2025, a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Farrukh Sharifzoda, participated in the Manama Dialogue conference on “Regional Powers and the Art of Dominance in the Context of Global Developments.
On November 1, 2025, the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries was held in Manama, co-chaired by Mr. Farrukh Sharifzoda, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
